Personal Introduction
I am Avery Mizrahi, a senior at Orange County School of the Arts and an aspiring neuroscientist. I love interweaving my arts experience, such as taking 32 semester long arts classes in the Integrated Arts conservatory, with my STEM passions. I was a NSF funded fellow at the University of California, Irvine Center of Neurobiology Learning and Memory, where I continue to research accessible diagnostic methodologies for Alzheimer’s Disease and Highly Superior Autobiographical Memory. I love neuroscience; in the past I have been a finalist in the UCI Brain Bee and created a research project through UCI Brain Camp. I am especially motivated by my desire to make a difference for youth everywhere, whether that be educating peers on neuroscience through my leadership position as Co-President at Southern California Youth Neuroscience Association (SCYNA) at UCI or helping neurodiverse teens come to learn social rules and techniques through UCSB’s Social Tools and Rules for Teens (START) program. Science is not the only place where I share my excitement with the world: I am preparing for my international tour to Spain and France with the Hall Method Professional Dance Ensemble and orchestra in 2023. When I am not performing research or practicing dance, you can find me sewing my own wardrobe, learning a new language, or spending time with my dog, Milo.
